You can find an almost anything your heart desires here at an affordable price.

The crowds that congregate here each Saturday to find great deals on used goods can number in the thousands. They flock here to find rock bottom prices on secondhand goods such as clothing, shoes, hiking boots, handbags, backpacks, gloves, wallets, beanies, watches, jewelry, purses, hats, books and more. The list of what can be found here goes on and on.

Other than small snacks, food is not sold by vendors at the market. If you are hungry, there are a few markets and many restaurants that line the market as you walk down the street.

Most of the thousands of bargain hunters that make their way to the market are ajummas (older women) and ajusshis (older men). Their main goal is to find a better deal before you find it. Until you pay for an item, keep your guards up. If you want the item, pay for it, otherwise you might lose it to another shopper. The more interested you are in an item, the more interested other bargain hunters will become. Think of it as a game.

Even with the stiff competition, great deals and bargains can be found. Prices for some items can drop below 1,000 won, especially if you know how to haggle the prices even lower. The sellers want your business and are usually willing to negotiate.

Many of the sellers here are regulars. They gather used items from their own collection, from friends and family, and from other markets in Seoul and then come here each Saturday to sell the items and make a profit. If you look around though you can find other sellers who are selling their own personal items.

Anyone can apply to be a seller at the Seocho Saturday Flea Market. Applying for a spot is required since competition for stalls remains high. Applicants are selected randomly. You may register online at www.seocho.go.kr.

Finding a new owner for used goods makes the seller a few extra won and gives used items a new home instead of the trash can.
