Chungmuro Pet Street is a group of pet stores with dogs and cats, animal hospitals, groomers, and veterinarian offices located east of Chungmuro Station. The collection of markets is located along Toegye-ro street just outside exit 1 of the subway station.
The market was first established in the 1970s. Locals call the area “Aewangyeon Market” which means “Puppy Market.” This area is home to about 40 pet industry shops including veterinarians and groomers.
If you live in Korea and want to adopt a pet such as a dog, cat, or other animal, then Chungmuro Pet Street is one of the best options. You can find a wide array of puppies, including small and large breeds. Most of the shops sell dogs, but if you are looking for a cat, you can also find a few for sale.
Most of these pets are from puppy mills, so be prepared to see animals in small cages and less than ideal conditions. It’s always cute to see pets through the windows in their cages, but its not hard to notice that these animals do not belong in small cages.
If you are not looking to adopt a pet, you can find every type of pet supply and accessory. You can find everything including pet food, toys, cat litter, houses, treats, fences, collars, leashes, flea medicine, and more.
There are also a few shops offering pet grooming services and veterinarian hospitals for those pets who vaccinations, regular check ups, or emergency treatment.
Though the area is small and a little run down, Chungmuro Pet Street is one of the best spots in Korea to adopt a pet, find supplies, and get your pet groomed.
